7 Common Mistakes That Ruin AI-Generated Videos
Updated September 28, 2026
Most disappointing AI video results trace back to a handful of avoidable mistakes. Here are the ones we see most often, and simple fixes for each.
1. Prompts that are too long
Piling on adjectives confuses the model about what actually matters. Keep the core idea to one or two sentences and let the model fill in reasonable detail.
2. No mention of motion
A prompt that only describes a static scene often produces a nearly still clip. Always include a verb or camera instruction.
3. Too many subjects
Three people, two animals and a car in one clip usually means some of them will blend, duplicate or distort. One primary subject reads much more cleanly.
4. Expecting perfect faces and hands
Current models still struggle with fine detail in fast-moving hands and close-up faces. Framing wider or turning the subject away from camera reduces visible errors.
5. Picking the wrong aspect ratio
Generating landscape footage for a phone-first platform means cropping later and losing part of the frame. Choose 9:16 up front for Reels, Shorts and TikTok.
6. Only generating once
AI output has randomness built in. Generating two or three variations of the same prompt and picking the best one is standard practice, not a sign something went wrong.
7. Skipping the edit
Raw AI clips rarely look finished on their own. Trimming, colour grading and adding music or captions is where a lot of the perceived quality actually comes from.
Try a fresh prompt on the generator and apply these fixes as you go.
